I truly believe as musicians, though we all write or play for: the love of music, of the instrument, the rush, the fans, whatever our main reason… when your music speaks positivity, or something even greater such as declaring your group as “Christian” as Marrissa and Sam did with The Timbre of Cedar, the artist or band has a responsibility to the audience to carry yourself, live and share your beliefs in a professional manner.

Christian artists have and will always come under fire for how they carry themselves within the music industry. Like it or not there is a reason people expect artists who declare their beliefs through their music to act a certain way and with extreme lapses in lifestyle such as with the late As I Lay Dying Frontman, or with Christian Artists outing others for their un-Godly lifestyle on the road… there will always be a game of catchup for those defining genre standards, and anger from anyone who thinks you are not living up to those defined standards.

Marrissa and Sam with their project The Timbre of Cedar have gone about their music in an honourable manner. They have surrounded the band, the writing, and those helping and supporting them with their love and belief in God, their love and respect for everyone involved, and have just shown everyone sheer gratitude. Many bands start and perform for certain reasons, but show the total opposite in how they carry themselves, and to have Marrissa and Sam be totally transparent with anyone and everyone really shows a true testament to their true character as people of Christ first and then musicians second. With all that said… It was showtime!
